About Odyssee

How Odyssee came into being

My whole life was an odyssee. Today I finally arrived. I have found my home, experienced love, discovered the passion for jewelry and learned from my mistakes. I feel ready to inspire people with my jewelry and my odyssee. But the path was not an easy one.

Born in Russia, grown up in Turkey, I moved to Switzerland with my family in 2001. Two years later fate has turned away from me step by step: I lost my left eye in an accident. With my eyesight and the disappearance of my father, the hope of having a happy and stable childhood in Switzerland soon faded.

After an initial stay in a caring foster family, the odyssee began from home to home, foster family to foster family and then out onto the streets. The nightmare never ended: In my second foster family I was harassed and beaten. I was only allowed to eat what was left over. During this time I went to my limits. The time strengthened my character and I got to know my strengths and weaknesses. In the youth center in Aarburg I finished school in one year and started an apprenticeship. This stay should resocialize me and prepare me for my future. But soon afterwards my best colleague, my closest companion in my home time, died of a cardiac arrest. Drugs were the cause, I learned later. Even today my tears still write his name – I have immortalized this saying on my skin. The juvenile prosecutor’s office stalled me, classified me as unfit for society and I began to flee. They promised me things if I kept to conditions and agreements. But the promises were never kept. Again and again I was dropped and always remained behind in the belief that I had tried my best. All my life. In my lonely nights, rap music was my therapist. The music showed me line by line that anything is possible and achievable as long as you believe in yourself strongly enough. I remember when I was a child, I had a dream of becoming a reality. When my mother once asked me where I saw myself in the future, I drew myself with a proud pose and a parked car next to a bank. Even as a child my mother gave me jewelry. It should protect me on my odyssee. And he did: He gave me hope and self-love. So I developed an affinity for pieces of jewelry since I was little. Even when the clothes fall, the jewelry remains. It symbolizes constancy. From generation to generation and it forms identity.

At the age of 19 I started selling jewelry made of natural stones, I found my destiny and fate took its turn. I would not be who I am today if it had not been the way it was. The odyssee took a lot of strength, but it taught me. It made me stronger and it finally paved the way to the good: the way to love, inspiration and creativity. My odyssee, my motivation, my jewelry – which motivates me to never give up, to believe in myself and to be proud of myself and my path in life.
